The Levinson Law Group Undergraduate Scholarship for Victims of Drunk Driving went to Vrishank Jannu, currently a Texas A & M computer science major.
The Levinson Law Group Undergraduate Scholarship for Victims of Drunk Driving is specifically designed to help someone who has been personally affected by a drunk driving accident. To be eligible for the $1,500 scholarship, undergraduate students must write a 500-word essay illustrating how they were personally affected by a drunk driving accident. Either the scholarship recipient or a loved one could be the victim in a crash, but it must have impacted their life.
Mr. Jannu’s winning essay stated that “I could have easily been one of the 28 people that die every day from a drunk driving crash. But all three of my family members were unharmed despite the terrifying odds. This changed my perspective on life and I realized that I had a mission … I eventually want to take the business, technical, and analytical skills from this experience and start a non-profit organization dedicated to minimizing the probability of drunk driving activity through promoting viable solutions for future legislation and enforcement. I want to leave this world knowing that I saved millions of lives for generations to come.”
