LA Injury Group Warns of Previous Seasonally-High Holiday Drunk Driving Statistics

The LA Injury Group, a personal injury law firm in Los Angeles, urges drivers to be careful when leaving holiday parties and events. Statistics compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found a higher number of people are hurt or even killed in accidents around the holidays which involve alcohol.

Every year, the study found, more than 300 people die in crashes related to drunk driving. In a five year span from 2012 through 2016, roughly four thousand people died in drunk driving-related crashes in the month of December alone. Around 25% of all vehicular crash fatalities involve one party or the other being alcohol-impaired. These statistics only include those who were killed in accidents. Many more were harmed in drunk driving-related accidents.

“Everyone wants to have a good time at a holiday party. We understand that, but it’s always a good idea to have a designated driver. This is what rideshare programs are for. The last thing anyone wants is to be harmed in an accident during this, what should be one of the best times of the year. The numbers of people who are hurt or even killed in alcohol-related accidents around the holiday are far too high. At the LA Injury Group, we’ve helped so many who did everything right but were struck by a drunk driver around the holidays or any other time of the year,” said Benjamin Charchian of the LA Injury Group.

The Los Angeles personal injury attorney team at the LA Injury Group focuses solely on personal injury cases. They handle cases involving vehicular accidents, wrongful death, and much more.
