Belal Hamideh Law Welcomes New Indoor Heat Regulations for California Workers

Belal Hamideh Law, a workers compensation attorney in Long Beach, has finished preparations to represent clients who have been injured through extreme heat on the job. New indoor heat regulations can allow more injured workers to receive compensation for their injuries.

Drafts of the regulation state that “if the combination of the heat restrictive nature of the clothing and the indoor temperature combined equals 82 degrees, that’s when you then have to tackle administrative, engineer and behavioral controls.”

In fact, some of the regulations could even come into play at lower than 82 degrees, depending on if employees are required to wear clothing that could cause them to overheat. The Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that 2,830 nonfatal occupational injuries and illnesses involving days away from work in 2015 were caused by overheating alone.

“This regulation hopefully forces employers to take overheating more seriously. It can help their employees as well as their bottom line. If nothing else, overheated employees aren’t going to be nearly as productive as those in a cooler, more stable environment. For too long, employers have forced their employees to work in too-hot environments. We’re glad to help any workers who were injured on the job due to the heat to receive all of the compensation that they deserve,” said Mr. Hamideh, a workers comp lawyer in Long Beach.

Belal Hamideh Law also covers personal injury cases as well as those involving workers’ compensation.
