Belal Hamideh Law Urges Caution as Vehicular Accidents Can Rise During Spring Break

Fatalities Increase in Spring Break Locations and the Surrounding Area

Belal Hamideh, a PI lawyer in Long Beach, advises those celebrating spring break and others in the vicinity to be cautious, as car accidents tend to increase during this time. Studies have shown that vehicular accidents can increase by more than 9% in the period around spring break.

A study found that the death toll resulting from car crashes in spring break counties (including those in California) was 9.1% higher than it was compared to other weeks of the year. Additionally, the fatalities included drivers who were younger than 25 more often than other drivers, too.

Perhaps surprisingly, the study found that traffic fatalities in counties that were located in the selected states (including California) were similar to counties that were considered “non-spring break counties” for the purposes of the study. So, the study concluded that the “spring break effect” was not limited to just spring break locations.

“Driving carefully and driving sober are important during every time of the year. However, they can be even more crucial during times like spring break. Sure, everyone wants to cut loose and have a good time, but it’s always so critical to put an emphasis on safety. The last thing anyone ever wants is to get into an accident. At Belal Hamideh Law, we urge everyone to get a designated driver or take rideshare if you’re going to have even a single drink,” said Belal Hamideh.

In addition to car accidents and other personal injury cases, Belal Hamideh also is a workers' compensation attorney in Long Beach
